Understanding Family Pension: Category-wise Eligibility under CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021” — Dr. Parmod Kumar, Director, DoP&PW
Namaskar. On CPAN Gram's toll-free number, the family members inquire about their eligibility for family pension. Actually, there is a prescribed order where the family members of particular category will be eligible in case family members of previous category either die or become ineligible. So let us know about it. In case of central government employees or pensioner covered under OPS as per CCS Pension Rule two thousand twenty-one, the family pension is first granted to the spouse of the deceased government employee or pensioner, including post-retiral spouse and judicially separated spouse. However, in case of marital discord with pending proceedings, female central government employee or pensioner can nominate her eligible child or children to receive the family pension in precedence over husband. Next right is given to the children, including stepchildren, adopted children, children born after retirement of the pensioner, and posthumous children. Their eligibility criteria are discussed in another video. Next in line are the parents, including adopted parents, provided they were dependent on the government servant or pensioner immediately before his or her death. The final category of the family members is that of disabled sibling, if they were wholly dependent upon the government servant or pensioner immediately before his or her death. In the upcoming videos in this series, you will learn in detail about the process and eligibility criteria of sanctioning a family pension. Thank you.
