Policy guidelines on occupation of Railway Rest House/Rest Rooms (Master circular) issued vide Board’s letter No. 2005/LMB/3/34 dated 18.05.2006 were recently amended vide Board’s letter of even no. dated 16.11.2023 by inserting sub-para 4-A after sub-para 4 of Para N.

Now, Ministry of Railways has decided with the approval of Competent Authority that in Master Circular No. 2005/LMB/3/34 dated 18/05/2006, following two sub-paras may be inserted after Sub-para 4-A of Para N as sub-para 4-A (i) & 4-A(ii) as under:-

Para (4-A)(i) -The “Rent paid by officers, for rest house occupied on residential grounds, shall not be more than the rent of entitled house for that station”. In case, different license fee is stipulated for same type of quarters based on different plinth area, the highest license fee for that particular type of quarter shall be recovered.

Para (4-A)(ii)- The powers for fixation of rent of ORH have been delegated to General Manager, to be exercised in consultation with Associate finance. The rent for occupying ORH beyond 15 days of allotment of quarter shall be same as fixed by General Manager for occupying ORH on personal ground considering 16th day of occupation of ORH as 1st day and adding subsequent days of occupation of ORH in it.

This issues with the concurrence of Finance Dte of Ministry of Railways.
