Pensioners' Welfare (DoPPW), inaugurated the Digital Literacy Workshop
organized by Bharat Pensioners Samaj (BPS) with the ceremonial lighting of the
lamp. In his address, he expressed his gratitude to BPS and its team for
inviting him to inaugurate this noble initiative aimed at promoting digital
literacy among senior citizens.
Digital Literacy – A Necessity of the Present Time
Mr. Sengupta emphasized the significance of digital literacy in today’s world,
particularly for senior citizens who did not have access to such technology
during their service years. He described the initiative as a commendable step
that empowers pensioners to adapt to the digital era, enabling them to stay
connected, informed, and secure.
Recognition of Outstanding Efforts in DLC Generation
Highlighting the selfless efforts of Bharat Pensioners Samaj and its affiliated
associations, he applauded their dedicated approach in ensuring that Digital
Life Certificates (DLCs) were generated for pensioners, even in the most
challenging circumstances. He praised the organization’s,affiliates, members
and staff for reaching out to bedridden pensioners and those in hospitals,
ensuring that no pensioner was left behind. He shared that the department had
surpassed its target, achieving over one crore DLCs, with BPS and its
affiliates being the largest contributor to this record-breaking success. His
personal experiences during visits to various stations and interactions with
BPS affiliates further reinforced his admiration for their dedication and
commitment.
Harnessing Retirees’ Knowledge and Experience
Reflecting on the vast pool of knowledge and experience that retirees bring,
Shri Sengupta passionately urged BPS to inspire and guide retired government
employees, many of whom are physically and mentally fit, to consider taking up
second careers. He eloquently spoke about how these retirees, with their
unparalleled wisdom and expertise, could continue contributing to the nation’s
progress, making their retirement a new chapter of meaningful engagement and
service.
Leadership Role of Bharat Pensioners Samaj
Mr. Sengupta acknowledged the pivotal role of Bharat Pensioners Samaj among the
pensioners’ associations registered with DoPPW. Drawing from his 10-month
tenure in the Department of Pension, he described BPS as a true leader in its
field, setting benchmarks for other associations. He also announced plans to
expand the number of registered associations from 57 to 70, further
strengthening the support network for pensioners.
Enhanced Support for Pensioners’ Associations
He shared that the department is actively working with the Ministry of Finance
to secure additional grant-in-aid for registered associations. He reassured the
audience that the present government is committed to supporting such
initiatives and that there is no shortage of funds to back meaningful efforts
like those of BPS.
Safeguarding Against Digital Risks
In his concluding remarks, Shri Sengupta stressed the importance of not only
embracing digitalization but also safeguarding against its risks. He urged
senior citizens and pensioners to be vigilant about online banking and other
digital frauds, highlighting the need for awareness and caution in the digital

उन्होंने भारत पेंशनर्स समाज को पेंशनर्स संगठनों के बीच एक आदर्श नेतृत्वकर्ता बताया। उन्होंने अपने अनुभव साझा करते हुए कहा कि DoPPW के साथ पंजीकृत संगठनों में BPS ने हमेशा एक अग्रणी भूमिका निभाई है। उन्होंने यह भी घोषणा की कि वर्तमान में पंजीकृत संगठनों की संख्या 57 से बढ़ाकर 70 करने की योजना बनाई जा रही है, जिससे पेंशनर्स के लिए और भी मजबूत समर्थन तंत्र विकसित किया जा सके।

उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि विभाग वित्त मंत्रालय के साथ मिलकर पंजीकृत संगठनों के लिए अतिरिक्त अनुदान सुनिश्चित करने के लिए प्रयास कर रहा है। उन्होंने विश्वास दिलाया कि वर्तमान सरकार ऐसे प्रयासों को पूरी तरह समर्थन देती है और धन की कोई कमी नहीं होने दी जाएगी।
डिजिटल खतरों से बचाव की अपील
