Sub :- Opening of Post Office - COVID 19

Since Postal Service have been notified as essential services, Therefore Department of Posts is providing facilities to its customers even during lock-down under COVID-19.

Further Govt. of India has given Relaxations in various activities, businesses to restore the facilities to General Public. Accordingly foot falls are increasing in the Offices. Therefore as per orders issued vide this letter no PO-5/Misc-COVID19 instructions/2019-20 dated 14/05/2020 , All Post Offices except single hand Post and Offices Falling under Containment Zone /Hot Spots and closed with the specific reason have been orderd to open w.e.f. 18-05-2020.

Accordingly to manage the functioning of all Post Offices as well as mail offices , it is quite necessary that staff should attend office regularly, however instructions issued by MHA & DOPT on subject should be followed while calling the staff and staff be called for in segregated working hours like 0800 hours to 1600 hours, 0830 hours to 1630 hours or 0900 hours to 1700 hours and so on. Accordingly Postman staff may be asked to attend office in two spell with 30 minutes gap between them. All precautions as advised by Govt. of India, should be kept in view i.e. usage of masks, gloves, face shields, sanitizers and maintaining social distancing etc.

Staff posted in single hand post offices should be called for in nearby post offices or as per request of individual to his home, but within the concerned unit. All Administrative Offices as well as operative offices will also function with full strength w.e.f. 18-05-2020.
