OROP row: President’s office now targeted for ‘no response’

Members of the United Front of Ex- Servicemen (UFESM) said that they will hold rallies in Bihar ahead of the polls if their demands are not met.

Ex-servicemen agitating for the implementation of the One Rank, One Pension (OROP) scheme have now targeted the President’s office, alleging that their appeals have not yielded any response from the office of the President, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

Members of the United Front of Ex- Servicemen (UFESM) — a conclave of ex-servicemen outfits — said that they will hold rallies in Bihar ahead of the polls if their demands are not met.

“Several missives, requests and appeals, some signed in blood, to the Honourable President of India who is the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces over the past seven years remain unanswered and unacknowledged to this day,” a statement by UFESM said.

It threatened that since the “returning of gallentry medals is not enough” to convince the government to take action, “they now plan to celebrate the Kargil Vijay Diwas in their own way”.
