 Policy guidelines on occupation of Railway Rest Houses/Rest Rooms (Master Circular) – Addendum by Railway Board dated 14.11.2023

Sub: – Policy guidelines on occupation of Railway Rest Houses/Rest Rooms (Master Circular).

Ref: Board’s letter No. 2005/LMB/3/34 dated 18.05.2006

A master circular on occupation of Railway Rest Houses/Rest rooms issued from time to time was issued vide letter under reference. Now, with the approval of the competent authority, the said Master Circular No. 2005/LMB/3/34 dated 18/05/2006, is hereby amended by inserting the following paragraph as Sub-para 4-A (to be inserted after Sub-para 4 of Para N) of the Master Circular:

“4-A. Rent paid by officers, for rest house occupied on residential grounds, would not be more than the rent of entitled house for that station. In case officer keeps occupying the rest house 15 days beyond offer of allotment of house, the rent would be charged at the rate equal to the daily rest house rates beyond these 15 days.”

The aforementioned amendment in the policy shall be applicable from prospective effect i.e. from the date of issue of this letter.

This issue with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of Ministry of Railways.
