RBA No. 62/2021

No. 2018/Ac-II/21/2/ARPAN

New Delhi, dated 18.11.2021

CMDs,
All Public Sector Banks
Disbursing Railway pension.

Sub:- Replacement of BSR code with IFSC code in e-pension debit scrolls.

Ref:- Ministry of Railways letter no. D-43 /43/2020-FE-III dated 21.7.2020 (RBE No. 55/2020)

At present, e-pension debit scrolls received from PSBs contain BSR code of the bank branch disbursing Railway pension as one of the mandatory fields. Reconciliation of pension payments are done by Railways after mapping this BSR code to the corresponding IFSC code of the pensioner’s bank branch. This process is time consuming and is posing difficulty in reconciliation of pension debits. Now that filling of BSR code by the pensioners on their pension claims forms has been dispensed with since. 2020 vide MoR’s letter cited ibid, reconciliation of pension debits for these post- 2020 PPOs has become a challenge for want of BSR code for mapping.

It is therefore imperative that e-pension debit scrolls contain the details of IFSC code of the pension disbursing Bank Branch for smooth reconciliation.

You are requested to kindly arrange to send the e-scrolls with the details of IFSC code instead of BSR code hence forth.
