Subject : CGHS Wellness Centre Visakhapatnam

Respected Sir,

Central  Govt Health Scheme has been sanctioned to Visakhapatnam and one Wellness Centre, under The Administrative control of ADDL Director CGHS  Hyderabad, has started functioning wef 9.1.2017. At Present one male Doctor and one Female Doctor are working in the Centre. Location of the Wellness Centre is in one corner of the city. Visakhapatnam City with over  20 Lakh Population spreads over vast area and Central Govt Pensioners availing CGHS facility are residing in Different corners of the city. For example Pensioners residing in areas link Pendurthy, Gajuwaka, Madhurawada have to travel a distance of 50 km (Both Ways) for getting prescription & medicines. To my knowledge on an average of two to three hundred card holders are visiting wellness centre daily. The two Doctors now available are not  able to cope up with the pressure. You may be surprised to know that many Pensioners are going to the centre at 4.00 AM and stand in the que for collecting tokens. Many are forced to wait for 4 to 5 hours for getting treatment and medicines. Posting of some more Doctors or opening of one more wellness centre, may ease the situation.

2. For inclusion of names of dependents of the Pensioner in the CGHS Card, CGHS authorities are insisting proof of dependency and demanding legal heir Certificate from revenue authorities. Sir, now when self-declaration & self-attestation are considered valid, demand of legal heir certificate from elderly persons is too arsh. Kindly help the elderly by resolving the issues brought out

Thanking you in anticipation
With warm regards
Yours truly,

S C Maheshwari
